NATIONAL NIGHT OUT/ NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH ACTIVITIES:

Posted on Oct. 04, 2011 at 09:07 am EDT
Neighborhood Events
The Board of the Hawkins Run Property Owner’s Association hosted the Annual National Night Out Event on August 2nd at the Pool Area. Thanks to All who helped provide the refreshments, get the prizes together and help support the activity.

We incorporated the Neighborhood Watch Meeting into this event.
SFPD Officer Doug Womack is our contact: 919-356-4458

Neighborhood Watch:

In discussion of NW, Officer Womack reported the following:
Our neighborhood (Hawkins Run) is very good in comparison to other areas of Sanford. Our residents are stable (live in the same place for a long time) which typically results in no major issues.

Tips for Safety:
  1. If you are going to be away from home, contact the Police Department. The police will ride by and check on your house 2 times a day and 2 times at night.
  2. Call the Police. The police cannot fix what they don’t know about.
  3. Solicitors must have a license to knock on your door. Don’t confront the solicitor, just call the police and ask.

National Night Out:

Sam Gaskin, Mayor Pro-Tem and Linda Turberville visited our gathering. Several Detectives, Officers, Firemen and other City Workers came by to visit with our community.

Tricia Hathcock was the Door Prize winner for the NNO Attendees.

Association News
At the National Night Out celebration, the Sanford Police Department gave out Child Identification Kits. These kits will help you collect information, fingerprints, etc. for your children. These items will help law enforcement personnel to identify your child, if he or she should become lost or abducted.
